In its current form, the Southern Region Waste Resource Authority (SRWRA) has provided its Constituent Councils with innovative and sustainable waste management solutions since 1998.

SRWRA was established to provide the Cities of Onkaparinga, Marion and Holdfast Bay with cost-effective waste management services that meet environmental and community standards.

We provide these services through our world class integrated waste and recycling hub with leading tech facilities that process the waste from domestic kerbside and recycling bins. This facility also houses operations of one of South Australia’s major landfills, a renewable energy hub and a recycled water storage dam.

Our commitment to environmental outcomes and community needs sees us process over 160,000 tonnes of waste material every year, with 40% of that diverted from landfill. We are driven to continually push the boundaries of waste management solutions.

Over the years, SRWRA has built partnerships with industry leading groups to deliver technically advanced resource recovery initiatives, including the Southern Materials Recovery Facility (with Re.Group), the Southern Recycling Centre (with Integrated Waste Services), and the Renewable Energy Hub (with LMS Energy). These initiatives have been designed to support the recovery, recycling and re-use of waste materials.
